Severina has been dancing for 15 years. She started out taking cabaret belly dance classes in Southern California with Catharae in 1995. She then studied with Ansuya and shortly therafter became a member of Yaliel, Ansuya's Dance Company until 1999. In 2000 she bagan studying American Tribal Style with Gypsy Caravan in Portland, Oregon. She immersed herself into this new style and joined Sister Caravan in 2002 and then Gypsy Caravan in 2004. Along the way she has not only studied belly dance with numerous other teachers, but flamenco and tango as well. In 2007 she decided that she wanted to combine her knowledge of these different styles and she created Znama Dance Company.
